A new Journal to share information and research on oral diagnosis.

It must be said that we are genuinely happy in launching Journal of Oral Diagnosis (JORDI) to the Brazilian and international community. JORDI is released as apeer-reviewedelectronic journal to all professionals interested in oral diagnosis. Our journal isaimed at policy makers, practitioners, scientists, teachers, dental or medical clinicians and students. It is an initiative of the Brazilian Society of Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology and, consequently it is a free journal. Since it isfreely available online, JORDI can reach those who cannotafford printed journals and subscriptions, or have no library resources. Therefore, it will not be available in hard-copy.JORDI is published in the English language because our goal is to reach worldwide professionals as much as Brazilian ones. Although Brazil is the 4th country in number of articles in general dentistry and the 2nd in oral surgery, it is not and easy task. As the first Brazilian publication in oral diagnosis, our goal is to publish high standards publications, and to be part of online resources such as PubMed, Scopus, ISI Web of Knowledge and SciELO. To make easy finding and referring JORDI articles each and all articles will have a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), from the very first issue. Also, authors’ submissions and peer-review will be electronic.

These are auspicious times; the government seems convinced that science is an essential part of a growing economy, and a significant part of the population believe science is important to improve quality of life. Science is growing fast inall areas, including new and better ways to treat patients and make diagnosis. Research is so important that the number of professionals in dentistry and medicine dedicated to this activity is growing fast. Moreover, in the health sciences, new knowledge is emerging constantly and modern health professionals have to continuously update their education simply to maintain their current qualifications. These are some of the reasons why it is important to have a journal with high quality standards since this will give readers confidence in articles content, post-graduate students will have a specialized media to look for information, clinicians will be up-to-dated with information to enrich communication with their patients, certainly contributing to improve quality of treatment, also hopefully teachers’ will use this publication regularly for teaching purposes. We look forward the information provided here will help health professional and policy makers in determining evidence-based policy andbest practices, also. We will provide JORDI readers constant updates in the field of diagnosis, experts opinion on hot subjects, comments on reviews published in other journals, original research articles, review papers, case reports that expands the field of oral diagnosis, meta-analyses, and so on. Our hope is to have a fast increase in the JORDI community of readers and contributors. Come and join us!

Journal of Oral Diagnosis

Atenciosamente
